The piping plover family of Long Beach Township. The banded parents were admired by state biologists, technicians and volunteers after their eggs nearly washed away during a notably high tide. Against all odds, the mighty duo fledged three healthy chicks, surviving constant human disturbance, dodging off-leash dogs, and an evening of disorienting July 4th fireworks.
