New Jersey Fish and Wildlife, The Wetlands Institute, and Conserve Wildlife Foundation partnered to band royal terns for the first time in the Garden State. Located on Horseshoe Island, the terns make up the northernmost colony in the hemisphere, boasting nearly one thousand breeding adults during the 2024 nesting season. Photographed while working for New Jersey Fish and Wildlife.

Banding was completed for specific research purposes, in compliance with state and federal laws, and with proper permits.
